Documents: For Italian citizens, it is enough
to carry a passport with at least six months validity and that
is in order with annual revenue stamps.
Entrance visa: US$ 50 (United States Dollars)
Vaccinations: No vaccination is compulsory
for Kenya. Should you go first to Tanzania and then enter Kenya,
it is compulsory to be vaccinated against yellow fever. We
recommend taking the anti-malaria preventive medicine. Before
leaving, ask your General Practitioner to advise you on which
type of preventive medicine is more suitable for you.
During your vacation you should abide by certain prevention rules:
starting from sunset, we recommend wearing long-sleeved shirts
and long trousers, using specific insect repellents on your skin
and sleeping with mosquito nets.
Payment by credit card: at the Kilili Baharini Resort, the
VISA and AMERICAN EXPRESS credit cards are accepted.
Currency: in Kenya the currency is the Kenyan Shilling, divided
into 100 cents, and it is worth about 0,011 Euros.
Language: the official languages are Kiswahili and English.
The Italian language is also spoken quite a lot in Malindi.
Climate: the climate is typically tropical. The coastline
benefits from the effect of the monsoons which make the temperature pleasant
and ranges from 24°C to 30°C. May and June are the rainy season months.
Clothing: we recommend casual, practical clothing, above all
if you intend going on safaris, comfortable, flat shoes or closed boots. During
your stay in Malindi, do not forget to take a hat, sunglasses, protective sun
cream, repellents against mosquitoes, an umbrella for the rainy season. A jersey
will certainly be useful in the evenings. Baggage for safaris must be reduced
to the minimum. We recommend using comfortable knapsacks.
Time difference: calculate two hours ahead of Italy, one for
daylight saving time.
Electric power: it varies from 220 to 240 Volts and the sockets
are of the English type with flat thin plates. Please remember to take an adaptor.
At the Kilili Baharini, Italian sockets have been installed and everything
complies with EC norms.
Tips: they are appreciated. At the end of the safari, it is
custom to give the driver a tip.
Cuisine: it is international. The fruit, fish
and shellfish are excellent. We recommend eating the local specialities.
